The major priority of TiDi Foundation is to enhance research and scholarship among undergraduates in Ghana and other West African countries. We strongly believe that this is a key approach to tremendous social and economic development in Ghana and other West African countries. The major approach we take to achieve our goal is through financial support for undergraduate students working on their theses. Every academic year, we ask students to apply to the foundation for funding that will be used directly towards their research. Another way is the provision of mentorship to students to facilitate the performance of their theses, as well as pursuing careers in research. In this regard, we have collaborated with A-Zone Network, a not-for-profit organization that was started more than 3 years ago. A-Zone has been involved in major mentorship programs across universities and many high schools in Ghana. In particular, they organize self-development training programs dubbed ‘Outside The Classroom’ to equip tertiary students with essential skills such as scientific research, data analysis, public speaking, branding, among others. Their mentorship program for high schools focuses on academic orientation and career guidance, where high school students are introduced to various tertiary programs, requirements and available scholarship opportunities. We’re extremely excited about this collaboration as we see this as a chance to broaden our scope and engage more stakeholders in our quest to contribute to social and economic development through research and scholarship.
